As the holidays approach us again and an end to 2021 comes, comes the time of remembering the ones we have lost. I feel like the holidays are the time in which we reminiscence on those we missed. This DIY Memorial Angel Wing Ornament is an amazing little keepsake to remember the loved one, anytime you see it. It is that little piece of 'heaven' to remind you of the ones you love.
Let's start with the supplies you will be needing to make your own ornament:
To begin, cut off all the tags on your ornaments, then if you are going to be using a glitter color that is different than the color your wing ornaments came in, you will have to paint it in that color you want. I painted my wings white. Once the paint is tacky you are going to cover both sides of the ornament in a thin layer of mod podge then coat the ornament in the glitter of your choice. Shake off the access and set it aside to dry.
Next, take the cap off of the clear plastic ornament, and setting that aside for later, pour a little bit of mod podge into the ornament. Using a paintbrush and your finger, coat the whole ornament in the glue, then pour in your glitter, coat the whole ornament and dump out the excess. Set aside to dry for 24-48 hours.
After your ornament and wings, placing the ornament cap back on, it is time to cut out the wording you want for the image using your die-cutting machine, below is the message I am putting on my ornament. The cutting file can be found on my Cricut Account at Serenity G. Patrick or you can save the image down below. Your wording should be no wider than 4 inches and 3 inches long.
After weeding the design using transfer tape, place your message on your ornament. Our last step is to glue the wings to the back of the ornament using ALOT OF HOT GLUE. You have to use so much and hold the ornament in place until the glue hardens, then add more glue for safety measures. I am not kidding the glue is needed. I added a cute ribbon to hang the ornament from the tree.
Then you are done and ready to display your lovely ornament on your tree. If you are a more visual learner there is a full youtube tutorial on this project over on my channel at Serenity G. Patrick.
